Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Director of the iSchool, teach one or both of the following courses in a face-to-face / classroom environment from June 26 - August 6, 2023 during the summer semester of the 2022-2023 academic year.

LIS 202: Information Divides & Differences in a Multicultural Society

CS 202: Introduction to Computation

LIS 202 & CS 202 Duties include: Preparation of course content for instruction in a classroom format. Preparation of a syllabus in consultation with iSchool staff, preparation and grading of assignments and examinations, holding synchronous office hours and communicating with students via email, virtual meetings, or by other means. One Teaching Assistant will report to the lecturer to assist with the course.

Responsibilities:

Facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction and assists with instructional development and design for a single course or series of courses within an academic discipline to support the delivery of quality instruction. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.
  • 80% Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance.
  • 10% Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction.
  • 10% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

Education:

Required
Master's Degree
Minimum of a Master's degree in Library and Information Studies or closely related field required.

Qualifications:

LIS 202: Information Divides & Differences in a Multicultural Society:
Experience teaching material about the socio-political landscape, especially as related to race/ethnicity, and the information society required. Teaching at the college or university level required.

CS 202: Introduction to Computation:
Knowledge of the principles that form the foundation of computer science. Understanding of the key principles of computer science.

Full or Part Time: 66.7% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 1 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended based on need and/or funding
