Reporting to the Manager, Budgets, the Budget & Financial Analyst assists with financial planning, budgeting, financial systems management, systems development, procedure design and maintenance, cost analysis, and financial reports, as well as making policy/procedural recommendations related to the functional area.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Assist with creating detailed financial reports and summaries on a regular basis.
  • Assist with Budget Office Year End close related tasks.
  • Assist departments with the College's annual budget development process.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information and interprets the data.
  • Develops and records necessary accounting journal entries to ensure accurate financials.
  • Maintain and update financial spreadsheets, reports, schedules, and calculations.
  • Monitor expenditures and prepare spending projections on a monthly basis.
  • Participate in the multi-year budget planning and forecasting.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis/projects/reports to support decision making (such as Faculty Ratio, Program Costing, Etc.).
  • Provide variance analysis and research to explain any variances in budget, forecast, and actuals.
  • Serve as the security officer for the Banner Finance module, assign appropriate fund, organization and rule class security to users and maintain approval queues.
  • Develop test plans and coordinate testing of new Banner patches and releases for the requisition to check cycle and budget and position control-related Banner processes.
  • Review report of all purchases orders over $5,000 for applicability to PA Right to Know law. Make required adjustments and submit to IT for processing to PA Treasurer.
  • Support audits and financial data requests and surveys, ensuring timeliness and data integrity.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting required. Any and all degree(s) must be from a recognized accreditor.
  • Minimum Five (5) years of experience analyzing fiscal data, programs, and operations within an education or non-profit environment required.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment required.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and materials required.
  • Advanced user skills with Excel and other Microsoft programs and computer systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, develop reports, and use data for decision-making required.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate well with others required.
  • Demonstrated ability to create short and long-term financial projections utilizing forecasting and financial data required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and research information for problem solving required.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written) required.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an integrated systems environment with the ability to query databases and utilize a report writer (Ellucian Banner, Tableau, Argos, etc.).
