Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, project management or closely related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in IT project management or technical project management related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The IT Project Management Office (IT PMO ) manages IT projects to deliver anticipated value and advance App State’s strategic objectives. The IT PMO provides a management structure to standardize project related governance and project management processes. We also provide Project Management support to keep projects on track and sponsors, teams and stakeholders engaged to realize project benefits.

The IT Project Manager is part of the PMO team with primary responsibilities for providing IT Project Management, Business Analysis and Change Management expertise and support for Campus Services IT Projects. The IT Project Manager must be familiar with student centered services provided by Campus Services to deliver IT projects that are in compliance with applicable IT standards and legal requirements, including PCI and FERPA .

This position requires on-site work to meet responsibilities to support Campus Services business processes and IT Projects and is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with some remote work consistent with University Flexible Work Arrangements .

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  1. Lead medium size, complex project(s), multiple small projects, at least one of which has medium risk and impact, or major subsets of large high risk and impact projects involving multiple staff across functional areas.
  2. Responsible for building project plans to work breakdown structure ( WBS ) level with team participation.
  3. Work with the following Project Management Methodologies: Predictive, Agile, & Hybrid, and with Project Management Information Systems.
  4. Vendor Management and ensuring contract deliverables are met.
  5. Provide regular day-to-day planning and organize the work of others.
  6. Stay well-versed in IT, particularly relevant applications and platforms and enterprise operational capabilities, strategies, and applicable compliance requirements, including FERPA .
  7. Apply Project Management best practices.
  8. Provide project management leadership on lower level to medium complexity projects and facilitating team involvement in resolving difficult technical issues.
  9. Project-related risk management, resource management, development of workarounds, and budget and financial management.
  10. Provide consultation to the project team, sponsors, and other stakeholders on the strategies for moving the project forward.


Suggested Salary Range
84,000 - 107,000

Typical physical demands of a professional position within a university office area, including close visual acuity to perform activities; prepare and analyze data; transcribe; view computer; extensively read; sitting for extended periods of time. Light lifting, carrying and setup for conferences and forums.
