Part-time members at Goodwin University are responsible for maintaining the highest standards in their particular disciplines. The practicum assistant position provides a variety of support for the Program Director/Dean. This position provides customer service, information, and assistance to other departments, assistance to students, and maintains various student files and records, and performs a variety of clerical tasks.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities :

  • Select and approve appropriate practicum sites
  • Coordinate practicum education
  • Document the evaluation and progression of practicum performance
  • Ensure orientation to the program’s requirements of the personnel who supervise or instruct students at practicum sites
  • Coordinate the assignment of students to practicum sites.
  • Ability to conduct site visits per MAERB accreditation standards
  • Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed
  • Support a multicultural environment and embrace the University’s rich diversity
  • Become actively involved in the co-curricular activities of the university
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times
  • Demonstrate professional attitude, philosophy, compassion, and commitment that promotes student growth and learning
  • Promote and maintain a healthy and safe educational and work environment, free from harassment and discrimination
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Program Director/Dean
  • Attend and participate in all Community Day events at the university
Other Functions :
  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
  • Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
  • Assist in recruitment and retention of students
  • Maintain licenses, certifications, and other professional credentials for the profession
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with the local community and other relevant stakeholders
  • Determine placement for Medical Assisting Internship
  • Evaluate Internship sites at least once while student is placed in that facility
  • Maintain relationship with community and sites
  • Maintain all student files for Internships including required paperwork and communications
  • Select and approve appropriate practicum sites
  • Provide orientation for the on-site supervisors
  • Provide oversight of the practicum experience
  • Ensure appropriate and sufficient evaluation of student achievement in the practicum experience
Knowledge, Ability and Skill :
  • Knowledge of current trends and practices in specific field of study

Minimum Required Qualifications :
  • Certification, such as CMA, RMA RN, RRT, CPC, etc. in the appropriate academic discipline.
  • AS degree preferred but not required
  • 2 years of experience in the medical field preferred but not required

  • Valid Drivers License & Insured Vehicle
