Job Details
Anna Maria College is currently seeking candidates for consideration of the Financial Aid Counselor position. This is a wonderful opportunity for entry level applicants, or for current Financial Counselors to take the next step in their career path. Experience with direct customer service and/or client relations is a must as this role regularly interacts with students, parents, and administration.
This position performs a variety of activities involving the dissemination of financial aid information to students; awarding and processing of federal, state and institutional aid and to perform routine tasks in the maintenance and operations of all student loan programs. Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with the public, college community and external constituencies.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and decision-making ability.
- Demonstrated ability in leadership, time-management and organizational skills.
- Proficient knowledge of Federal Student Aid Systems (FSA) a plus.
- The incumbent will serve as the first line for all phone calls, walk ins, and emails and will be the primary point of contact for all on-ground undergraduate students. Customer service and interpersonal communication skills are critical. Incumbent must demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
- Provide information and assistance to students and parents regarding available financial aid programs, such as grants, loans, scholarships, and work study jobs and the application processes for each.
- Review financial aid application forms for accuracy and completeness; request and review additional information from students as necessary.
- Perform need analysis and award students based upon established criteria pertinent to each financial aid program (includes state, federal, and institutional funding).
- Manage batch awarding processes for traditional undergraduate and international students.
- Collect and review documentation and complete verification for students in assigned section.
- Download and process ISIRs several times per week.
- Select, train, and supervise multiple student workers who assist with communication and clerical tasks in the office.
- Work closely with other campus offices and outside constituencies to resolve discrepancies and assist students.
- Create and document FAO policies and procedures in consultation with the Director.
- Occasional evening and weekend hours.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Director.
Preferred Knowledge:
Full understanding of the financial aid process and Title IV Regulations.
Proficient knowledge of Federal Student Aid Systems (FSA) including EdConnect, NSLDS, CPS, COD, and SAIG. Additional knowledge of general accounting procedures, spreadsheets and data analysis is preferred.
