About the Opportunity

Northeastern University seeks a forward-thinking operations professional to assume a newly created position as Associate Director of Global Launch Services to support the university's rapidly expanding global network of campuses. With a university system comprised of colleges and campuses across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, the Associate Director will join an institution with a long history of infusing global experiences throughout its learning and research programs.

The Global Launch Services Team's primary responsibility is to lead the launches of new programs across NU's Global Campus Network, as well as the launch and integration of new global network sites, in alignment with the university's goals and applicable legal, regulatory and academic compliance obligations. The Team's resident expertise in academic governance, regulatory compliance, government relations, business modeling and strategic analysis will inform decision making on site and program selection, ensure compliance and promote efficient project management and execution.

The Associate Director will work in collaboration with partners throughout Northeastern, the global campus network, and external stakeholders to support the launch and integration of new global sites. The Associate Director will be responsible for supporting the rapid, reliable, repeatable and efficient launch and integration of new sites for Northeastern's global network of campuses.

The Associate Director must be self-directed with exemplary interpersonal communication skills. S/he must demonstrate excellent prioritization and organizational skills, personnel management skills, cultural agility, immediacy in communication, and attention to detail. Preferred candidates will have experience in IT/Systems integration, regional program launches, and/or site launch coordination.

The Role of the Associate Director

Relationship Management & Operations Leadership
  • Build trusted partnerships with administrative and college leadership at all levels of the institution to support operational initiatives and program activities that align with the University's mission and vision.
  • Participate in university-wide working groups and committees to support domestic and international activity, develop policy, and facilitate collaboration and best practices across the University.
  • Working closely with key university, program, and regional campus stakeholders, delegate project task(s) to team members in the best position to accomplish the project's shared goals.
  • Oversee team of Assistant Director(s), and provide effective leadership (motivating the team, and keeping them engaged and apprised of relevant developments).
  • Ensure excellent level of support is provided to internal stakeholders that work closely with, and rely on, Global Launch Services.


Site Launch & Integration
  • Assist GLS leadership in development of site and integration initiatives and project plans.
  • Prepare analysis and develop recommendations to support launch and integration projects and related global activity.
  • Identify and manage site launch related project risk, reporting, and escalating issues to GLS leadership.
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for site launches (and ensuring its implementation, and quality control).
  • Liaise with the Office of the General Counsel, Risk Management and Audit Services to promote effective risk management and compliance for network operations, balancing compliance with productive methods to enable projects and activities to proceed.
  • In partnership with Global Regulatory Affairs unity, work to obtain initial and ongoing approval for the university to operate in new territories and jurisdictions.
  • In partnership with Information Technology Services, lead the development and execution of plans and initiatives to integrate new sites onto key enterprise systems in order to ensure timely and effective integration.
  • In partnership with the Offices of the Provost and Registrar, ensure appropriate internal academic governance and compliance frameworks are developed and implemented to ensure the seamlessness of student experiences across the university's global network.
  • Coordinate site launch related projects with teams in regulatory affairs, government relations, business/market analysis, etc, to support the execution of site, program launch and integration plans.
  • Support and inform site launch efforts by building networks with key external stakeholders, including but not limited to government agencies, accrediting bodies, employer organizations, higher education institutions, global HR, tax & finance contractors and service providers, and others.
  • Liaise with university staff to complete and review ongoing regulatory needs on time; anticipate upcoming submissions and manage related team-planning processes.


Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of direct experience supporting the development, launch and/or integration of new physical sites and academic programs in markets outside of the institution's home jurisdiction.
  • Experience with international academic or business initiatives a plus.
  • Working knowledge of the project management process and implementation using MS suite of products.
  • Ability to build relationships and experience working collaboratively on broad cross-functional projects serving multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in managing competing priorities and working effectively under pressure when facing short deadlines and a dynamic flow of information.
  • Ability to make consistent and fair decisions based on facts and data.
  • Excellent diplomacy and negotiation skills; and the ability to converse easily, with courtesy and clarity, with all members of the Northeastern community and beyond.
  • Flexibility when adapting to evolving priorities.
  • Intellectual curiosity and the mental agility to troubleshoot and make sound decisions in response to rapidly changing, often complicated situations.
  • Effectiveness as a strategic thinker who thrives when working as a member of a dynamic leadership team.
  • An understanding of global learning mobility programs is welcome.
