Minimal Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); or technical training in building trades including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry.
* Four (4) years grounds or maintenance related experience.
* Minimum Qualification can be substituted with an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Preferred qualifications:
Preference will be given to individuals who possess :
* Experience working in a college or multi-building setting
* Experience working in a commercial or construction setting
* Experience with exterior painting buildings, parking lot markings, floors, lockers, etc.
* Knowledge in mixing and matching paints and varnishes, and in the application of paints by brush, roller or spray gun
* Experience with Interior painting, walls, ceiling and floors.
* Experience with specialty painting epoxy, dryfog, etc.
Work Hours
Normally scheduled Monday through Friday; however, may be required to work other shifts to include evenings and/or weekends. Schedule subject to change based upon department needs.
Compensation
Starting salary $ 37,303 . Competitive benefit package is included.

Class Summary
Incumbents perform semi-skilled and skilled labor in plumbing, painting, electrical, roofing, carpentry, masonry, or HVAC, remodeling facilities, assist with maintenance or construction projects as directed. Major duties and responsibilities include: installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems; repairing and replacing roof systems; replacing asphalt and/or Installing concrete forms for drives and parking lots; removing and installation ceiling systems; conducting preventative maintenance and repair in areas of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, boiler operations and controls, and climate control systems; preforming electrical/plumbing repairs; maintaining inventory and records.

Typical Essential Duties
• Paints interior and exterior surfaces of buildings
• Maintain inventory, and prepares and/or maintains work orders, records, and other documentations
• Prepares surfaces prior to painting. Includes patch, sand, repair, and cleaning walls prior to painting to ensure proper adherence
• Places signs to ensure members of the College’s community are notified there is painting in process
• Places protective material over exposed surfaces to prevent paint from dripping into undesired areas
• Cleans up the surrounding area after painting an review work to ensure completion
• May perform sanding or scraping surfaces prior to painting
• May assist carpenters with general carpentry duties as needed
• Performs snow removal and salting duties when required

• HVAC mechanics, repairs, software, and preventative maintenance principles;
• Security alarm systems;

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be exposed to hazardous physical conditions, such as, mechanical parts, electrical currents, and vibrations; atmospheric conditions, such as fumes, odors, gases, and poor ventilation; hazardous materials, such as chemicals, blood, and other bodily fluids; extreme temperatures; inadequate lighting; work space-related movement restrictions; intense noise; other environmental conditions, such as, challenging behaviors, imminent danger, and threatening environments.
