Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder is searching for a Victim Advocate Intake Counselor! The Office of Victim Assistance provides trauma-informed victim advocacy and short-term counseling to university students, staff and faculty who are impacted by disruptive and disturbing life events, typically crime and policy violation related. This includes, but is not limited to, experiences of sexual assault, intimate partner abuse, harassment, stalking, disasters, mass violence, hazing, physical assault, discrimination, bias, and other types of experiences. The role will provide entry point services through outreach, conducting intake assessments, crisis intervention, and providing appropriate referrals and resources. This position is required to carry an on-call cell phone for emergency response during business hours during part of each week.

Who We Are

The Office of Victim Assistance (OVA) works towards a safer, more socially just, and supportive campus community by providing culturally relevant trauma response and prevention services. OVA is in the division of Health and Wellness Services.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Clinical/Advocacy
  • Provide outreach and confidential entry-point services including: intake and assessment, crisis intervention, information on system-wide operations (criminal, administrative, medical, academic and civil options), victim outreach, problem solving, and referrals to OVA Victim Advocate Counselors and appropriate university and community resources for ongoing support, counseling, and/or advocacy.
  • This position does not do ongoing counseling work.
Administrative
  • Participate in weekly case consultation and staff meetings.
  • Record client interventions and statistics by completing and documenting case notes, release of information forms, and other clinical duties.
Collaboration and Education
  • Collaborate with other members of the OVA team on projects, such as delivery of trainings or educational materials.
What You Should Know
  • This full-time position will have occasional evening/weekend work.
  • This position is mostly in-person/in-office work. A few days a month can be remote/WFH. At times there may be more remote/WFH days related to fall, winter, spring, and summer breaks based on the academic calendar.
  • All University of Colorado Boulder employees are required to follow the campus COVID-19 vaccine requirement . New employees must provide proof of vaccination or receive a medical or religious exemption within 30 days of employment.

The salary range for this position is $60,638 - $75,056 annually, dependent on years of being independently clinically licensed. Onboarding assistance is available within department guidelines.

What We Require
  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling or related field.
  • Independent clinical license in the State of Colorado (LPC, LCSW, LMFT or Clinical Psychologist) or transferable to CO by date of hire.
  • Two years of total clinical experience providing direct client services, including intake and assessment experience.
  • Two years of experience providing advocacy and crisis intervention.
  • Experience with a trauma informed approach to clinical and advocacy services, including working with issues related to gender violence, such as sexual assault, partner abuse, stalking, experiences of bias, and discrimination.
  • Experience and interest in working with people from multicultural backgrounds and marginalized populations.
What You Will Need
  • Good communication and social skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff and a diverse range of constituents.
  • Knowledge of victims’ rights and/or Title IX and Title VII.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and demonstrated dedication to social justice and inclusive excellence.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
What We Would Like You to Have
  • Public speaking experience.
  • Experience working in a university or college setting.
  • At least two years of post-license clinical experience providing direct client services.
  • Experience conducting sessions in another language besides English, such as Spanish, Mandarin, or Arabic.
