- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education, or a related field.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to travel to target schools.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends.
- Must effectively and dynamically present information in small and large group formats.
- Must possess knowledge and experience facilitating students/parents through the college admission and financial aid processes.
- Must have experience preparing intentional academic curriculum and or programming designed to achieve learning outcomes.
- Must have experience in planning educational and cultural trips.
- Must have efficient oral and written communication skills.
- Must have demonstrated computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Suite, Adobe Suite, and database entry.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must possess excellent organizational skills and an ability to think independently and analytically.
- Must possess knowledge and experience in academic advising;
- Experience monitoring progress to accomplishment of objectives and learning outcomes.
- Experience with fiscal grant administration and implementation.
- Additional consideration will be given to applicants with:
- Master’s Degree in a related field.
- 1-2 years experience in a high school educational setting, counseling, or academic advising-related field.
- Experience assessing students’ academic needs.
- Experience with multi-week Summer Residential Programs for High School students.
- Experience with multi-week High School to College Transition Programs for recent high school graduates (Bridge Program).
- Bilingual English/Spanish written and verbal skills.
- Experience obstacles similar to those encountered by TRIO -like students or students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Knowledge and practice pertaining to social justice issues and working with students from non-traditional backgrounds.
Responsible for providing professional supervision and support to a grant.
Job Duties
- Assisting with preparing materials and facilitating aggressive participant recruitment campaign in accordance with US Department of Education Guidelines.
- Evaluating participant applications to determine eligibility.
- Make recommendations and conduct participant intake interviews.
- Evaluate and complete academic and needs assessments on each program participant.
- Research, develop, and implement innovative co-curricular programming for students that fosters personal and academic growth.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for each program participant and assist in monitoring IEP progress throughout the calendar year.
- Assist in developing an academic tutoring schedule for students to adhere to on a weekly basis. Ensure students effectively utilize tutoring services provided and communicate needs from tutors as appropriate.
- Assist with assessing and reporting participant progress, personal growth, and academic performance.
- Oversee maintenance of participant files and program-specific documentation to ensure all appropriate services and contacts are entered into the student database; verify promotion, retention, and graduation of all current participants.
- Provide college admission and financial aid process information.
- Conduct frequent program evaluations with participants and parents.
- Propose, plan, and review expenses and budgets related to trips, activities, and events.
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and chaperoning participants on cultural/educational trips and college visit tours.
- Ensure that senior participants take appropriate steps toward high school graduation and college enrollment. Follow up on progress year-round and communicate progress to the director.
- Assist in planning the Summer Residential Program, including orientation, scheduling, supervising, and evaluation of summer staff.
- Monitor and collect data on graduate participants in accordance with grant tracking requirements.
- Develop and maintain professional outreach networks within target area communities and schools, serving as a liaison and point of contact as needed.
- Assist with the submission of the U.S. Department of Education Annual Performance Report.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to promote personal and professional growth.
- Assist in reconciling departmental accounts.
- Reconcile budgets and resolve discrepancies.
- Analyze complex financial data and reports and make recommendations based on analysis.
- Monitor and analyze budget expenses, purchase orders, p-card, NPOs, materials releases, etc.
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise student worker staff.
- Train Administrative Support Staff.
- Confirm I-9 forms are fully completed and verify identity and eligibility documents for new employees.
- Coordinate activities of student workers.
