The Opportunity :

UPDATE: For academic year 2023/24, the College of Business, Security and Intelligence at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, AZ is seeking a Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor to teach Project Management to security and business students within the College. The ideal candidate will have a combination of relevant business, risk management and/or security work experience in the application of project management principles. The position will include teaching project management principles and methods to undergraduate and possibly graduate students and preparing them to earn the Certified Associate Project Manager certification from the Project Management Institute. Experience managing projects in a corporate or government security context is highly preferred. This will be a one year appointment.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and characteristics:
  • A master’s degree or terminal degree from an accredited institution either in project management, business management, security management or a related field.
  • An active Project Management Professional (PMP®) or Program Management Professional (PgMP®) credential.
  • 5+ years of professional experience at the project manager level managing plan-driven project life cycles and change-driven project life cycles with budgets $5M USD or greater.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the broader project management community and the range of project management maturity levels of organizations.
Preferred but not required qualifications include:
  • Experience managing multiple projects from design build (Green-field) and managing them through the PMBOK Knowledge and Process iterations to successful completion.
  • Previous experience teaching Project Management at a college or university level is preferred.
  • Experience using waterfall and agile project management approaches.
  • Demonstrate professional experiences, research, and best practices at seminars, conferences, career fairs, etc. within the global management field.
  • Additional Project Management Professional certifications (DASM, CSM, ACP) beyond the PMP level are preferred.
  • Experience managing projects in a federal intelligence agency, corporate security, or physical security context is a plus.
