William James College- Adjunct Faculty - School Psychology, Fall/Spring 2023-2024

William James College, located in Newton, MA, just west of Boston, is seeking an Adjunct faculty member to teach two courses, Statistics and Research and Evaluation Methods in the School Psychology MA/CAGS Programs for Fall 2023 (Statistics) and Spring 2024 (Research and Evaluation Methods) semesters. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach both courses, but those interested in only teaching one course will be considered. The courses are in-person and will meet on Thursdays, 4:10-7:00 p.m. Some flexibility regarding the time and of the courses may be possible.

Responsibilities:

Within the Statistics course, the Adjunct faculty member will provide students with an understanding of descriptive and inferential statistical methods applied to educational and psychological research. This includes teaching students how to analyze data; when and how to use different statistical procedures; how to interpret and report data; and how to measure individual progress in clinical and educational settings. In this course, students are also introduced to the foundations of psychometrics, including measurement scales, standardization, reliability and validity, standardized scoring formats, and basic concepts of test construction. Within the course, Research and Evaluation Methods, the Adjunct faculty member will provide students with an understanding of how productive research and evaluation questions are formulated, the critical distinction between empirical observation and inference, and factors governing the types of conclusions which can be drawn from empirical data.

The syllabus for these courses have already been developed. However, input from the adjunct faculty member is encouraged as they prepare for each course.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will hold a doctoral degree in School Psychology, Educational Psychology, Counseling or Clinical Psychology. The preferred candidate will have availability to teach both courses on Thursdays from 4:10-7:00pm, but some flexibility regarding the time and day of the courses may be possible.

Application Procedure:

Please send a cover letter (indicating which course(s) you are applying to teach) and CV to Ellen Collins, Director of Human Resources, at HR@williamjames.edu, and to Dr. Jason Kaplan, School Psychology Department Chair, at Jason_kaplan@williamjames.edu. Applications will be reviewed when submitted and considered until the position is filled.
