Job Summary:

Performs general clerical, receptionist and office duties in a public facing environment. Assists Advancement with efficiencies, electronic, and office projects. Assists with clerical tasks supporting special projects as needed.

CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS :

The student must agree and adhere to all conditions of the Learn and Earn Student Worker program. Finance & Operations department is responsible for assessing initial and continued eligibility for student employment through Learn and Earn employment. Must maintain confidentiality of information accessed during and after Learn and Earn employment.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge and Skills: Requires basic office operations knowledge and clerical skills and competencies using general office equipment including personal computers. Requires good communication, customer relations and phone skills, electronic communication, and writing skills. Familiarity with department policies and procedures is preferred.

Must maintain enrollment in at least 6 credits at LBCC, maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout each term and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better (some positions may require a higher GPA ) to be eligible to work in a Learn & Earn student employee capacity at Linn-Benton Community College

Abilities: Must be able to perform the duties of the position efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision and following well-defined policies and procedures. Requires the ability to prepare routine or customized reports, correspondence or materials using word processing or database applications. Requires the ability to learn, understand and apply college rules, regulations and policies. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment including computers, word processing and database applications used at the college. Must have good organizational skills and be able to stay on task and complete tasks as assigned. Must be able to communicate clearly with diverse populations in a courteous manner, exercising patience, either over the phone or in person. Must be able to work respectfully with individuals from all cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives.

Education and Experience: Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one year’ experience in general clerical or administrative assistance is preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Physical Skills and Abilities: Position involves long periods sitting at a computer plus light to medium work, which includes, kneeling, and carrying and lifting of light to medium weight materials (10 to 25 pounds). Must be able to operate a computer and general office equipment. Requires ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.

Working Conditions: Work is normally performed in an office setting with little or no exposure to health and safety hazards. Some evening hours may be required. Occasional travel to offsite recruitment activities is required. Lifting, pushing, pulling and bending light to medium weight materials is often required for setting up and breaking down events. Considerable time is spent working at a computer.

Essential Duties:

1. Assists Advancement and Marketing with efficiencies, electronic scanning and filing, and office projects. Collaborates with staff responsible for project or initiative.

2. Generate, receive and maintain confidential and sensitive files, information and reports and ensure security of files.

3. Assists with reception duties in the Advancement and Marketing area as needed. Responds to student, staff and community inquiries and disseminates information to appropriate staff. Composes and types, emails, news releases, letters and other communications.

4. Provides clerical support, including word processing, file management, faxing, copying, etc. to division staff as needed. May schedule meetings and appointments.

5. Supports department staff with special projects related to improving office processes (organizing, filing, documenting, sorting, and cleaning).

6. Performs other related duties as assigned.
