Provide mental health counseling, community outreach, and campus support for students. Provide input and guidance to the college’s Behavior Intervention Team. Facilitate direct counseling services to students in a confidential, educational setting.  Develop positive relationships with community resources and act as a student advocate during the referral process.  Provide consultation services to faculty and staff including referral to the Employee Assistance Program.  

Example of Duties:

Constant (67-100%)

  • Provide counseling to a diverse population of students. 
  • Provide referrals to community resources as necessary and act as a student advocate to coordinate required services.
  • Maintain counseling records in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Mentor and advocate for at-risk students. 

Frequent (34-67%)

  • Provide case management services.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling and the client’s progress.
  • Promote counseling services to students.
  • Assist in the operations of the Health Services Department. 

Occasional (10-33%)

  • Provide consultation to faculty and staff.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate outreach programs.
  • Participate in committee work.
  • Maintain professional credentials by attending conferences and workshops.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

6.       Ability to plan, organize, and manage time and scheduling  

7.       Must possess the willingness and desire to learn new skills and attend training that may be required.

Qualifications:

Education: Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field

Licensure: *Licensed as an LMHC, LMSW, LISW in the state of Iowa

*A candidate with a temporary license will be considered for the position with proof of secured external supervision.
