Job Summary

The Tutor III – Pharmacy Technician is an active participant in the CLC Tutoring Center, coaching students in selected subjects as well as in study and technology skills as needed. The Tutor participates in staff development opportunities, contributes to center projects, and helps promote the center within the CLC community.

Required Qualification

1. CPhT certification or previous pharmacy work experience.
2. Successful completion of college-level courses in subject to be tutored.
3. Ability to tutor in multiple modalities (face-to-face and online).
4. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
5. Ability to assess student learning needs and determine appropriate learning strategies.

Desired Qualifications

1. Previous Tutoring Center experience
2. Proficient in MS Office
3. Willingness to work at multiple campus locations (Lakeshore, Southlake, Grayslake)
4. Bilingual in Spanish and English

Special Instructions Summary

This is a part-time flex position and employment shall be on an at-will basis, the duration of which shall be in accordance with the needs of the College of Lake County.
-Part-time flex employees are not eligible to participate in any benefits program at the College, including tuition reimbursement, tuition waiver, health insurance or paid time off.

Summary of Essential Functions

1. Tutor CLC students in pharmacy technician courses and/or other subjects as needed.
2. Tutor in multiple modalities (face to face and online).
3. Recommend appropriate learning strategies in basic skills.
4. Present class orientations describing center services.
5. Demonstrate software and calculator skills as needed.
6. Lead study groups as needed.
7. Refer students to support services when appropriate.
8. Document tutoring sessions and complete other required reporting.
9. Participate in staff development opportunities and in the tutor evaluation process.
10. Participate in center projects as assigned.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
