Job Summary:

The International Projects Office in the International Division is looking for a creative and detail-oriented individual to contribute to fill a critical role on the team by managing its financial operations. In TTC-language, if you are a finance specialist, accountant or awards specialist and looking to take on more administrator responsibilities or if you are an administrator who would like to build finance and budgeting experiences, this position provides a great growth opportunity. Responsibilities:

Develops budgetary projections, budgets and prepares financial reports. Provides budgetary guidance to directors and managers. Reviews expenditures to ensure conformance with budgetary guidelines.
  • 20% Develops and monitors budgets and short and long-term budgetary projections
  • 20% Analyzes, identifies, and makes recommendations for cost savings and funding options in alignment with working unit strategic initiatives and unit objectives
  • 20% Conducts program and budget research, analyzes data, and prepares complex financial reports in accordance with established procedures and regulations
  • 10% Assists in the development of operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and unit objectives
  • 10% Serves as a point of contact for staff providing budgetary information and guidance, answering questions, and responding to inquiries
  • 10% Requests and approves purchases and payments to individuals and vendors (local and international) via Shop@UW+; serve as site manager for IPO's purchasing card
  • 5% Works with IPO staff in coordinating and monitoring all travel (outbound and inbound) for partnerships/projects; ensure compliance with State, UW, and partner institution country travel requirements; serve as the Approver of expense reports
  • 5% Creates individual/unit contracts and process payments to faculty, staff and other departments after obligations are met

Education:

Preferred
Associate's Degree

Qualifications:

Required
1-2 years of experience working with financial management, accounting or a related role
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel) and a willingness to learn new systems
Demonstrated experience in performing various financial transactions (for example, reconciling budgets, generating monthly reports, and process e-reimbursements)

Preferred
1-2 years of experiencing working with budget creation and financial management in a higher education institution
Familiarity with pre-award, award, post-award budget processes
Knowledge of the UW-Madison¿s payment practices and systems, e-reimbursement system, and familiarity with purchasing card rules and regulations
Experience working with different kinds of UW-Madison funds (e.g., 101, 131, 136, 144, 233)
