Pay Range
The compensation for this appointment will range from $16.50 to $21.50 hourly and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this staff appointment. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, as well as market conditions. In addition to wages, CBU offers a robust suite of employee benefits.
Position Summary Information
Summary
Works with the Laboratory Coordinator and Associate Dean to facilitate all financially related aspects of laboratory activities and field experiences. Procures goods and services such as laboratory equipment and supplies, makes travel and logistical arrangements, and monitors several budget cost centers for the Division of Natural and Mathematical Sciences ( NMS ) by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned.
- Confers and maintains working relationships with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
- Determines procurement methods such as direct purchase, quotes, cash, reimbursement, or credit card.
- Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, cost, and delivery.
- Generates requisitions for reimbursements, purchase orders, and invoices for payment.
- Selects products for purchase by analyzing the cost and quality of items in conjunction with faculty and laboratory staff.
- Assures the correct account coding is assigned to each purchase.
- Prepares bi-monthly reports to enable a financial analysis of all facets of laboratory operations.
- Reconciles laboratory-related department credit card(s) for monthly billing.
- Sorts documents; codes, logs, and reviews for accuracy; matches supporting invoices to procurement documents; and verifies invoices for payment.
- Prepares routine entries and posts financial transactions into computer database; reconciles entries and internal ledgers to financial reporting system reports.
- Researches processing problems, contacts departments and vendors to resolve problems and expedite payment, and responds to inquiries by telephone or in writing; refers complex problems for solutions.
- Assists in the preparation of financial statements such as billings, budgets, and cost reports.
- Assists in ordering, maintenance, and utilization of department equipment, supplies, and inventories.
- Assists in approving student worker timecards.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to part-time Student Workers, in order to complete work assignments.

- Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
- Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
- Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
- Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
