Founded in 1851, Florida State University is a preeminent university as designated by the Florida legislature. Florida State University (FSU) preserves, expands, and disseminates knowledge in the sciences, technology, arts, humanities, and professions, while embracing a philosophy of learning strongly rooted in the traditions of the liberal arts and critical thinking. Its campus marks the oldest site of continuous higher education in Florida, and its recent upward trajectory is unrivaled—FSU has risen 24 spots in six years to No. 19 among national public universities in the U.S. News & World Report rankings.

Reporting directly to the Vice President for University Advancement, the Associate Vice President for Advancement (Associate Vice President), Colleges, Schools, and Units will provide leadership and strategic direction for fundraising and development initiatives for FSU’s colleges, schools, and several units. The successful candidate will serve as a thought partner across all colleges, schools, and units on fundraising priorities in alignment with the Foundation’s and University’s mission and strategic plans.

Carrying a portfolio of 20 to 30 prospects with capacity to give $500,000 and above, this leader employs a donor-centric fundraising methodology, leads by example, and models a university-wide approach to their work with prospects and donors. The successful candidate will direct the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects with capacity to give between $100,000 and $1 million across FSU’s colleges, schools, and units, while influencing strategies to successfully secure gifts of $1 million and above.

As a member of the University Advancement Leadership Team, this leader interfaces regularly with academic deans and unit leaders, key donors, prospects, volunteer leaders across all of their areas, and the Foundation Board of Trustees. The candidate will foster strong collaborative and mutually supportive relationships within the University and all affiliated organizations. The Associate Vice President will uphold and exemplify the operating practices and mission of the Florida State University Foundation and Florida State University.
