Primary Purpose of Position:
The successful candidate will be expected to carry full teaching load (4 courses per semester) of undergraduate courses, including Unmanned Aerial Systems operations, maintenance, design and FAA regulations, Introductory and Advance Physical Geography, Climatology and Meteorology, and Oceanography, and grad/undergrad cornerstone course in their area of expertise. Other duties include student research and academic advising, and service to the Department, University and academic community. New faculty will be expected to enhance collaborative learning across disciplines, and promote community engaged research and service. The position will build on the existing Department strengths in geospatial and environmental science with focus on growing the enrollment in our programs. We seek faculty who have evidence of educating and mentoring a diverse group of learners which may include experience with sponsoring student research or internships, developing study abroad opportunities, service learning courses, or the use of innovation pedagogies such as hybrid or online learning.

Minimum Education/Experience:
The successful candidate is expected to have some experience in teaching university-level geography and earth science courses. Applicants for this position must have a Ph.D. in Sustainability, Earth Science, Geography, Geology or a closely related field, evidence of research productivity and a demonstrated potential for attracting external research funding. Must have broad expertise in Unmanned Aerial Systems, Ability to earn Part 107 license. The ability to teach introductory level climate, weather, oceanography, and earth science. The highly competitive applicants will have the ability to significantly contribute to the development of climate change and coastal resilience program at NCCU. Applicants with experience and interest in working with students underrepresented in STEM fields are highly encouraged to apply.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other faculty at NCCU and other institutions; strong knowledge base of climate change and related sustainability issues; ability to supervise undergraduate and graduate student research; ability to engage in interdisciplinary research; evidence of the ability to teach Introductory Geography and Earth Sciences courses, upper level Climatology and Meteorology, Oceanography and, as needed, other undergraduate and graduate courses in the department. Promote program development and enrollment of the Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Program within the Environmental, Earth, and Geospatial Sciences Department. Participate, Market and promote NCCU DEEGS Geoscience, Environmental Science and UAS certificate programs with professional societies, industrial associations and other events as applicable
