Job Summary

Develop and supervise comprehensive group fitness program and related special events.

Responsibilities
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, and supervise 15-30 student employees including group fitness instructors
  • Develop, implement, supervise, and evaluate group fitness programs and special events on a semester/annual basis
  • Direct and manage fitness equipment cleaning, preventative and routine maintenance for 4 studios
  • Develop and facilitate semester group fitness instructor training program
  • Plan, coordinate and implement program marketing to include publicity and promotion, recruitment of participants, print and social media, and maintain positive public relations
  • Facilitate semester audit of certification standards for staff
  • Review and enforce policies and procedures
  • Maintain and utilize risk management best practices
  • Assist with department and/or facility special events
  • Maintain industry standards
  • Serve on University and departmental work teams and committees


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Personal Trainer or Group Fitness Instructor Certification from a nationally accredited body

Required Experience
  • One (1) or more years of related work experience


Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Recreation or related field
  • Masters degree in Exercise Science or related field

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Personal Trainer/Fitness Instructor Certification in multiple modalities
  • CPR/AED Instructor Certified
  • Membership and active participant in NIRSA

Preferred Experience
  • Experience training instructors or personal trainers
  • Experience in university setting
  • Experience in purchasing fitness equipment
  • Supervisory experience


Proposed Salary

$19.95 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
