Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice and Director of Mentoring and Supervision, Department of Behavior Analysis

The Department of Behavior Analysis in the College of Natural, Behavioral, and Health Science (CNBHS) invites applications for a non-tenure track, Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice/Mentoring and Supervision Director (“Director”) within our campus-based Master's degree program in Boston, MA. The position will be filled for Summer 2023.

We seek innovative educators and scholars with a demonstrated excellence in teaching, creative curriculum development, a knowledge of the challenges confronting Behavior Analysts today, and a commitment to supporting practicum placements. This position is fully dedicated to supporting the Experiential Learning courses and coordinating compliance with accreditation standards. In addition, the position requires maintaining a teaching course load within the campus-based master's and/or doctoral programs.

Responsibilities include coordinating and overseeing student and supervisor orientation, student registration, as well as placement and student assessment. The successful candidate will coordinate supervisory services provided by both 1:1 and group mentors to ensure procedural integrity and compliance with the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB) supervised fieldwork standards. The Director will also maintain mentor/supervisor records, provide supervision, support, and training to mentors/supervisors within the program, and ensure mentor compliance with program and BACB policies and protocols. The Director will maintain compliance with the Association for Behavior Analysts International (ABAI) accreditation standards for experiential learning coursework, vet and manage worksite and supervisor documentation, and ensure supervisors meet and maintain required qualifications for supervision of experiential learning coursework.

Upon hire, the Director will be expected to complete the Simmons University supervision training, maintain ABAI, BACB, and Simmons University standards for supervision, and maintain licensure as a behavior analyst in Massachusetts.

Qualifications:
  • PhD in Behavior Analysis or closely related field required (ABD candidates may be considered);
  • Current BCBA in good standing;
  • Meets BACB standards for providing supervision;
  • Licensed as a Behavior Analyst in Massachusetts or licensure eligible (required);
  • Minimum of 3 years experience providing supervision to students seeking Board Certification and supervising BCBAs;
  • A record of professional presentations and research publications preferred; and
  • A record of teaching behavior analytic coursework in higher education required

Simmons University's Masters in Behavior Analysis and Doctorate in Behavior Analysis programs prepare students for leadership roles in the implementation, evaluation and administration of applied behavioral analytic principles and methods. Our innovative curriculum emphasizes contemporary research in applied behavior analysis, and students are required to complete experiential learning coursework as part of their degree program. Our Doctoral program provides training in advanced clinical skills and research skills to produce scientist/practitioners within the field. Doctoral students are assigned to faculty research labs during their second semester in the program; as a lab member, students contribute to ongoing research projects, collaborate with fellow students and disseminate findings, and complete their dissertation under faculty guidance. Graduates from the doctoral program have assumed leadership and chief clinical roles in behavior analytic organizations, academic appointments in institutes of higher education, and spearheaded advocacy and dissemination efforts within and across disciplines.
