Classification Salary Range: $4,610 - $6,556 per month

The final salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

About the Position

Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean, the position performs a variety of student related activities and duties in support of the day-to day operations for the Organizational Leadership Studies (OLS) self-support program. A significant component of this role is to meet prospective students and provide information about enrollment and admissions to the CSU system for the Organizational Leadership Studies major. The incumbent is responsible for planning and coordinating the advising activities, including the interpretation and application of specific operating policies and procedures as well as organizing and monitoring student progress. The incumbent is also expected to assist in the dissemination of information for applicants, prospective students, matriculated students, and external entities relative to regulations and requirements.

Some night and weekend work needed for student activities.

Overview of Duties and Responsibilities
  • Communicate to a diverse student population the program admission requirements
  • Represent the University both on- and off-campus to prospective students, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process
  • Advise prospective students on curriculum qualifications
  • Provide information to current OLS students relative to program requirements, testing requirements (Graduation Writing Exam) and graduation requirements as well as responding to written requests for technical assistance from current students as needed

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience: Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master's degree in a job‑related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
  • Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job‑related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of the practices, procedures and activities of the program to which assigned
  • General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management
  • General knowledge of research and interview techniques; and of the principles of individual and group behavior
  • Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations
  • Ability to advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required
  • Ability to recognize multicultural, multisexed and multi‑aged value systems and work accordingly

Preferred Qualifications
  • Equivalent to four years of progressively responsible administrative experience which involves monitoring and coordinating through a system of internal procedures and internal controls to ensure the efficient operation of an organization.
