The Office of Enrollment Management is seeking candidates for the Summer Writing Instructor role.
Through the O.M.I.C. (Opportunity Meets Innovation Challenge) grant and our I.D.E.A. (Increasing Dual Enrollment Access) Project, The College of New Jersey invites you to apply to participate in our Summer Bridge Program.
The Summer Bridge Program as part of our I.D.E.A. grant, is designed to introduce students from Trenton Central High School, Ewing High School and Willingboro High School, to the demands of college level coursework. The program will take place on the beautiful tree-lined suburban campus of the College during the month of July.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop a six-session experience that provides students with
access to college level reading and writing. Activities may
include:
- Meeting with other Summer Bridge Writing Instructors in the Spring ‘23 semester
- Developing prompts
- Identifying appropriate activities with the TCNJ Library
- Identifying the need for support from the Tutoring Center
- Participate in a Summer Bridge Orientation
- Participate in an End-of Program celebration
- Provide instruction and feedback to students in a timely manner
- Provide in-person Writing Instruction during the Summer Bridge
program as follows:
- Tuesday, July 11 10:15 - 11:45
- Wednesday, July 12 10:15 - 11:45
- Thursday, July 13 10:15-11:45
- Tuesday, July 18 10:15-11:45
- Wednesday, July 19 10:15 - 11:45
- Thursday, July 20 10:15 - 11:45
- Tuesday, July 25 10:15-11:45
- Wednesday, July 26 10:15 - 11:45
- Thursday, July 27 10:15-11:45 (+ celebration)
- Provide support as needed with library and/or tutoring activities
- Must have experience as a Writing Instructor at TCNJ
- Must collaborate with other TCNJ faculty members
- Interest in early college opportunities for high school students
- Experience with teaching high school students
- Experience with teaching writing at the college level
- Energetic and positive attitude
