Program Director, Rural and Farm Finance Policy Analysis Center

 


Job Description

The Rural and Farm Finance (RaFF) policy analysis center was established in 2021 through a series of cooperative agreements with the United States Department of Agriculture’s Office of the Chief Economist (USDA-OCE) with the mission to illuminate current issues related to the area of agricultural finance. RaFF is a center in the Division of Applied Social Sciences, one of six academic units in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources at the University of Missouri.

RaFF invites applications for a Program Director who will manage the day-to-day operational aspects of the center including coordination with other land-grant institutions that are involved in RaFF’s research surrounding agricultural finance.

The primary focus of the position will be the coordination of all activities under the center. This will include strategic communication of RaFF’s research to a broader audience of stakeholders within Missouri and across the United States. This will include the release of information to policymakers in Washington, DC.

Key responsibilities will include the following:

 

 

 

  1. Interacting with RaFF researchers on research progress relative to RaFF objectives,
  2. Strategic communication of research results of the RaFF network of researchers including working with communications teams at the collaborating land-grant institutions,
  3. Communication of research progress to USDA-OCE personnel, and
  4. Help RaFF develop a national reputation and noted program in agricultural finance.

 


The successful candidate will:

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Develop and implement processes to ensure RaFF objectives are communicated to all RaFF researchers,
  2. Coordinate information sharing across the RaFF network of researchers,
  3. Provide regular updates of research progress relative to the cooperative agreements to USDA-OCE and RaFF researchers,
  4. Lead efforts in strategic communication of research results to all RaFF stakeholders

 


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

MS in agricultural or applied economics, or a related social sciences discipline.

Candidates will be evaluated on:

A strong record of accomplishment in the area of strategic communications and be able to work with a diverse group of researchers in the delivery of research results.
