The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Stonehill College seeks applications to teach a single section of VPH181-Global Visual Traditions. The course is designed as a survey of multiple art traditions that introduces students to art-historical research and writing. The exact perspective of the class is flexible in that instructors can design the class around their expertise and interests as long as it provides a broad overview of artistic production and contextualizes it against other traditions (Western and/or non-Western). The class schedule can also be flexible but is generally two 1.25 hr. sessions or one 2.5-hour session per week for the duration of the fall semester.
Education & Experience
A Ph.D. in a relevant field and demonstrated teaching experience. Software mastery of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop and experience teaching at the undergraduate level are preferred. The ability to teach an introductory art history class focusing on a contextualized dive into one or more traditions in art making is required.
