Assistant Vice President, Facility and Operations
The University of Maryland, Baltimore invites applications for their next Assistant Vice President, Facility and Operations. UMB is recognized as a national leader in health sciences research and serves as the state's leading public health, law, and human services university as a constituent institution of the University System of Maryland.
Serving as the university's chief facilities officer, the AVP will provide leadership, facilities and operations expertise, and supervision of the institution's physical plant and infrastructure. The AVP is responsible for developing project-management policies, day-to-day operations and maintenance of campus facilities, identification and resolution of infrastructure deficiencies, and addressing deferred maintenance on campus. The AVP will be responsible for development and oversight of an operating budget of $81 million, which includes $46 million in deferred maintenance.
In this role, the AVP will:
• Oversee the day-to-day facilities operations, construction, campus services, and all related aspects of the physical plant management.
• Build relationships and strengthen communication with campus stakeholders, leaders, and external partners.
• Create a culture of innovation and transformation by designing solutions to improve processes and better serve customers.
• Manage dynamic group of professionals within the Facilities and Operations team by assessing performance metrics providing opportunities for growth and professional development.
• Bring vision, direction, and a long-term strategic view to facilities and operations planning.
• Serve as a member and thought leader of the senior administration and finance team at UMB, as a member on campus leadership committees and search committees.
• Report to the Chief Business and Finance Officer and Senior Vice President of Administration and Finance.
Successful candidates will need to have a bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, facility management, or construction engineering with 12 years of experience is required.
