Laboratory Electronics Engineer (IT Administrator/Analyst 1 - MR09 )

The Laboratory Electronics Engineer will support Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and other engineering laboratories with electronic design, installation, and modification of laboratory systems. The position will also assist with other technical needs across the entire College of Engineering & Computer Science as assigned by supervisor. The Laboratory Electronics Engineer will report directly to the CECS Director of IT & Laboratories.

Duties and Responsibilities

Offers faculty research support; electrical design and construction of new lab apparatus; programming of computers and specialty microprocessors; support and modification of existing systems and software; graduate lab support; direct design support of student labs and competition projects; assistance to students to set-up and understanding of lab assignments; designing and building the hands-on infrastructure of electrical and mechanical laboratories; development of Electrical Engineering laboratories; responsible for all Electrical Engineering new equipment installs and inventory control; responsible for all Electrical Laboratory maintenance; support EE undergraduate classes and EE dedicated research; support the CECS tech staff with specific research and selection of scientific equipment; and installation and technical maintenance of all scientific equipment in the CECS.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Technology; and 5 years of work related experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering; 3 years of work related experience; technical certifications of CET, MCDST, MCSA, ISCET, and FCC licenses; and a background in plant engineering or maintenance.
