Overview

The Senior Business Analyst is a member of the Data Strategy & Innovation (DS&I) team within University Advancement. DS&I plays a critical strategic role within Advancement, providing the analytical framework, data architecture, application development, and tools for data-driven decision-making at all levels of the organization. This team is responsible for developing, managing and implementing 3rd party applications (CRM, MS Dynamics, Aventri, ClickDimensions) and custom applications to support the daily functions of Advancement. In addition, the team is responsible for technical support for all Advancement staff as well as continually improving Advancement processes based on best practices. The Senior Business Analyst owns and manages a set of Advancement processes, and contributes to the development of other processes supported by the team, with the goal of enhancing the reliability and value of Advancement applications and services.

As a senior member of the team with extensive experience leading and managing business analysis and process workflow projects, the Senior Business Analyst plans, organizes, monitors and oversees one or more projects to meet defined business requirements or needs. The candidate will be responsible for providing functional design, solution configuration, end user technical support and training documentation of various processes. This position requires working closely with other teams and stakeholders and guides efforts toward achieving intended sponsor and business results. The Senior Business Analyst should be able to facilitate and provide analysis independently on highly complex processes. In addition, this analyst role also assesses and recommends team adoption of new best practices in Advancement services and is responsible for mentoring other team members in business analysis and project management best practices.



Responsibilities

Project, Process and Backlog Management


• Provide an overall leadership role serving as the liaison between the process owners and the technical teams
• Engages project sponsor, stakeholders and team with effective communication
• Identifies drives and executes projects aligned with departmental or organizational strategy
• Coordinate, plan, analyze and deliver functional requirements for Advancement related processes and services in support of the Advancement team and across Princeton University
• Manage required changes or enhancements in coordination with Process Owners, Advancement Department Leads and various University Departments
• Address ongoing backlog of support tickets in agreed upon and prioritized order Participate in stand-up meetings and address any/all blockers with team
• Facilitate process improvement meetings with stakeholders at various levels of the organization to determine overall order for implementing processes and enhancements

• Collaborate with process owners, stakeholders and developers to ensure processes are implemented correctly
• Oversee User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for Advancement applications, develop test scripts, and work with testers and end users to achieve sign-off
• Provide documentation that can be used to help develop training material

Leadership and Mentoring

• Lead efforts to identify, define, and analyze system requirements to meet the expectations of stakeholders, schedule timelines, and budgetary targets
• Business owner of the team’s methodology for process documentation
• Research, recommend, and document best practices in Advancement related processes and services
• Share knowledge and mentor others in business process and project management methodology and best practices



Qualifications

Essential:

• At least 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst for complex IT software projects
• Experience leading large process improvement projects
• Full understanding of and extensive experience supporting the complete software/application development cycle
• Proven strong contributor with excellent verbal/written communication skills
• Proficient in mapping business rules to processes
• Ability to elicit, interpret and analyze functional and technical requirement documents for highly complex business processes
• Proficient in the use of process diagramming and project management software

Preferred:

• Experience with Automated Testing Framework (ATF)
• Experience working in higher-education
• Experience developing, implementing and supporting business processes in a University, Foundation or non-profit environment preferred
• Certification in project management or business analysis, such as PMP or PBA
