Job Description:

The Director of Diversity, Equity and Belonging partners with members of the Champlain College community to develop the mindsets and skills needed to create a sense of belonging in academic settings and learn across lines of difference. The Director will also lead and project manage select Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging and Justice ("DEIBJ") initiatives in partnership with college leadership. The position reports to Academic Affairs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Essential functions and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Serve as chief liaison between students and faculty to support complex interactions in the academic setting
  • Equip stakeholders with the mindsets and skills needed to foster a welcoming, supportive and just community that facilitates open and respectful conversations
  • Provide training for faculty to create a sense of belonging and inclusion in their classrooms and teach across lines of difference
  • Collaborate with student affairs, including the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and other affinity-based groups, to identify opportunities to foster a welcoming, supportive and just community and proactively develop and implement solutions
  • Lead and project manage select institutional DEIBJ initiatives in partnership with senior leadership
  • Serve as the Coordinator of the Bias Education & Response Team



Requirements:

Desired Qualifications and Characteristics:
  • Bachelor of Arts degree
  • Proven track record facilitating conversations related to DEIBJ, preferably in an educational setting
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing faculty and/or staff
  • Demonstrated success leading and managing projects
  • Understanding of Champlain College's mission, values, and distinctive approach to higher education
