Work Schedule, Hours per week: likely T & Th afternoons, but may vary dependent on department needs

Pay Range: adjunct rate

Position Summary: JCCC is looking for applicants for a part-time faculty position in the Chemistry Department. The ideal candidate would be expected to instruct students in lecture and/or lab for either Principles of Chemistry, General Chemistry I, General Chemistry II or Organic Chemistry. The ideal candidate would need to be able to teach face-to-face starting Summer 2023. The teaching assignment for summer includes a General Chemistry II lab. All applications must be be submitted to the JCCC jobs portal.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Chemistry or related discipline with 18 hours of graduate level coursework in Chemistry
  • Computer literacy including ability to communicate and develop teaching materials and enter grades electronically
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the use of appropriate computer software
  • Demonstrate fluency in written and oral communications
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the use and care of small equipment like pH meters, spectrophotometers
  • One year of college-level teaching experience in Chemistry

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree in Chemistry or related discipline with 18 hours of graduate level coursework in Chemistry
  • Community college teaching experience
