Overview

The Program in Visual Arts is seeking a temporary Manager for its Digital Lab, a Mac-based computer lab supporting all students enrolled in Visual Arts classes the Lab Manager will provide technical support and guidance to students using the facility and will maintain and update the equipment and resources within the Lab and maintain the attached Lighting Studio. This position reports to the Program Manager of the Visual Arts Program and works in concert with the LCA Technical Support staff. The Digital Lab Manager will arrange for software tutorial workshops and will support classes by providing software tutorials to Visual Art students. This is a part-time position, 25-30 hours a week, with a schedule set around class times and with some additional flexible hours.



Responsibilities

The Digital Lab Manager is responsible for ensuring that Visual Arts students have consistent access to the facility and the most up-to-date guidance possible, as well as ensuring that basic care and order is maintained in the lab at all times. This includes both the digital lab and the attached Lighting Studio. The Lab Manager is also responsible for making recommendations regarding equipment and software needs in the Lab and coordinating budget with the Program Manager. Candidates must be proactive in terms of organizing repairs and maintenance, and anticipating lab needs for a growing Visual Arts Department.

Tasks include:

Maintain a regular schedule when the lab will be open and available for use by students Provide hardware and software recommendations based on student feedback Provide user training on common tools and applications. Ensure that printers and computers are operational at all times, or notifying the appropriate party if they are not Organize and maintain the Lighting Studio Provide basic technical support for software and hardware Communicate network problems to network administrator Keep lab and studio in a clean and organized condition Maintain an accurate inventory of all computer lab assets Stock lab with all necessary computer, printer and scanner supplies Acquire and maintain good working knowledge of current versions of standardized software Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

    Proficient with Mac OS; ability to manage and maintain systems efficiently Strong interpersonal communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively Prior experience supporting desktop computers, printers, and scanners Ability to instruct in the use of Epson scanning and printing processes, Adobe Creative Cloud, including After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere Ability to identify various photography, sound, and film equipment and tools Ability to work flexible shifts during different times of year. This will require some afternoon/evening shifts as late as 10PM.

Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience working with artists, art students, and within an arts school preferred. Information Technology background a benefit
