Position Summary:
This position is responsible for auditing, reporting, inventorying, ordering, installing and maintaining inventory systems infrastructure equipment. The position will act as part of a team and will provide customer service and end user support. The position will provide input on solutions, prioritizing requests and maintain documentation.
Level I positions provide server infrastructure, storage, cloud platform support and related security for server systems to the university community. They will follow standard processes and procedures to resolve server system compliance, work on smaller projects with limited scope, follow documented processes and standards, and participate in on-call rotation.
Duties may include:
- Design and use audits and reports to identify and resolve server problems
- Engage Application Administrators and customers to help troubleshoot application-related problems
- Perform periodic ordering, audits, analysis and reporting for software licensing and support agreements
- Evaluate, implement and maintain Systems Infrastructure management tools
- Maintain server system drivers and firmware
- Coordinate software licensing, contracts, service purchasing and renewals
- Create, edit and update documentation for various Systems Infrastructure processes
- Peer review new code, documentation and processes
- Review and suggesting improvements to source code and documentation for scripts and applications
- Improve reliability and repeatability of processes by utilizing scripting, software tools and automation
- Other duties as assigned
Duties may include:
- Create, configure and maintain an enterprise server environment while maximizing security, reliability and performance
- Perform server systems security analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting, consultations, design and implementation
- Identify and respond to security vulnerabilities, attacks and events
- Research, develop and present complex technical solutions to management and technical staff
- Design and use audits and reports to identify and resolve server problems
- Perform periodic ordering, audits, analysis and reporting for software licensing and support agreements
- Maintain documentation to ensure accuracy and identify inefficiencies
- Review and suggest improvements for source code, documentation for scripts and applications
- Improve reliability and repeatability of processes by utilizing scripting, software tools and automation
- Other duties as assigned

Salary range:
ESA I: $53,000.00 + DOE
ESA II: $72,000.00 + DOE
Please note: Two positions will be hired from this posting, and one will be contingent upon work and/or funding.
Minimum Qualifications:
ESA I & II
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One year maintaining technology infrastructure
- One year installing and configuring operating systems in an enterprise environment
- One year providing support and customer service related to technology
- One year leading projects and designing advanced server systems
- Four years developing, installing and maintaining physical and virtual enterprise systems across on-premises or cloud infrastructure
- Three years providing support and customer service related to server systems
Preferred Qualifications:
ESA I
- Associate’s degree or higher in a related field
- Experience building and automating servers either on-premises or in the cloud.
- Experience supporting components of a data center environment, including rack-mount hardware, structured cabling, UPS, power management and cooling
- Demonstrated clear and concise technical writing skills appropriate for the workspace
- Experience interacting with users and with vendors/partners to identify and resolve server hardware and application problems
- Experience working cooperatively and communicating effectively with management, colleagues and end-users in a customer service driven environment
- Experience working in higher education
- Experience with the following products and services:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows Server
- Cloud infrastructure (for example, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure)
- Scripting tools like PowerShell, Python and Bash
- Security standards, tools, and procedures
- Certificate of Lifecycle Management
- Network management and security
- Data protection
- Documentation management
- Associate’s degree or higher in a related field
- Experience building and automating servers either on-premises or in the cloud
