The Associate University Registrar reports to the University Registrar and will serve as a member of the senior leadership team of the Registrar’s Office. The Associate University Registrar will work closely with the University Registrar and with partners within Student Accounts, Student and Academic Systems, Financial Aid, Student Success and Engagement, and Admissions, among others. The Associate University Registrar will lead the University community to improve student services, develop student-centric approaches to processes, ensure consistency of policy enforcement, ensure data integrity, and maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations.

 

As part of the senior leadership team, the Associate University Registrar will collaborate with the University Registrar in strategic planning. In addition the incumbent will manage a seven person team, oversee the areas of external credit, records, and curriculum and degree progress, and represent the office on various committees.

 

This position requires excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills; as well as versatility, flexibility, and problem-solving ability. It requires a combination of regulatory knowledge, and the understanding of business needs and the systems that support those needs. As a member of the AACRAO, the Associate University Registrar will participate in professional activities and connect with peers at other institutions, both regionally and nationally, to remain current on relevant topics, regulations, and best practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for all records, external credit, curriculum and degree progress functions at the University.

  • Responsible for managing administrative staff positions within the office, including: recruitment, hiring, training, and development of staff.

  • Ensure all processes are in compliance with enrollment reporting, NYSED, MSCHE, and other related regulations as well as consistent with best practice in the field.

  • Responsible for developing and executing process improvements within the curriculum and degree progress team.

  • Responsible for testing upgrades in Banner, DegreeWorks, and Perceptive.

  • Assist students, unit staff, and other constituents troubleshoot issues.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Minimum 2 years of progressive administrative experience in a Registrar's Office

  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse constituents

  • Experienced analytical and creative thinker, who leverages relationships to get buy-in and support for solutions and enhancements.

  • Must possess the ability to creatively problem solve; maintain curiosity; and demonstrate empathy.

  • A commitment to equity, inclusion and social justice, and evidence of engagement in this space.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, and Google Suite

  • Ability to adhere to The New School Covid-19 Policy

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • Experience with Ellucian Banner, Hyperion, Tableau, DegreeWorks, Perceptive

 

WORK MODE

  • Hybrid/Remote - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice.  Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions.  

 

SALARY RANGE

$80,000 - $90,000
