Student Technology Center Manager

Pay Range: $55,000 annually or higher depending on experience and education.

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Student and Technology Operations Support, the Student Technology Center manager and the designated team provides statewide student technical support, ID card service, and student computer lab maintenance, in support of the University of Idaho's teaching, learning and research mission. This team works with other OIT support teams to identify solutions, work with vendors, and ensure delivery of IT equipment, software, and services.

This manager is responsible for developing, implementing and cultivating statewide technical support solutions for university students. The STC Manager is also responsible for ID card services. They will also manage, develop, and motivate the Student Technology Center Team to provide excellent support. This position reports to the Deputy Director of Student and Technology Operations Support.

Duties may include:
  • Leading, managing and developing the Student Technology Center Team
  • Developing and maintaining ID card processes and standards
  • Overseeing the delivery of student technical support to the University
  • Develop performance indicators for reporting related to services
  • Monitoring customer feedback for continuing process improvement
  • Manage relationships with other U of I departments and affiliates
  • Maintain reports and data to support fiscal responsibilities
  • Working with and being an active member of the OIT leadership team
  • Ensure Student Technology Center responsibilities and tickets are completed in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent



  • Four years of technical support experience
  • Two years supervisory experience in a customer service role
  • Working with teams to accomplish shared goals
  • Experience working with and communicating with external departments or vendors


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a supporting field.
  • Demonstrated experience with assignment coordination and staff management, service delivery processes, intra/inter-team communications, budgeting, and measures/metrics.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the commitment and drive to provide “first class customer service and support”.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Experience working with fiscal practices with a basic understanding of budget management.
  • Experience in Higher Education.
  • Demonstrated experience using verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of audiences.


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Ability to lift, carry, or otherwise move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds indoors and outdoors.
