Job Summary
The Mountain Research Station in Nederland, CO is seeking an Assistant Cook for our morning shift! Under the direction of the kitchen lead, the Assistant will help to prepare, cook, serve, and clean-up meals for guests and researchers visiting or staying at the Mountain Research Station which is located about 15 minutes north of the Town of Nederland. Meals are typically for 20-50 guests.

Located at 9500 feet in the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies, the Mountain Research Station (MRS) is an interdisciplinary facility of the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research (University of Colorado) providing research and educational opportunities for scientists, students, and the general public. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Assist in the preparation, cooking, serving, and clean-up of meals. This position often works only with the kitchen lead to perform all kitchen activities so willingness to participate in the full process from start to final clean-up is essential to success.
- All meals are scheduled and typically serve 20-50 people. Ability to work at a fast pace to meet serving time windows is also critical to success.
- This position is anticipated to work June 10th - September 2023. From June 10th - August 20th, approximately 20 - 30 hours per week. After August 20th, only occasional weekends will be worked.
- Core hours are Monday - Friday 5:30am - 11am, Saturday - Sunday 6:00 am - 11 am. Scheduling can be dynamic: some weekends there will be no hours, some weekends more hours, flexibility required.
The pay rate for this position is $17.00 - $24.00 per hour.

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave .

What We Require
- 6 months of professional experience. Education may substitute for the experience on a year for year basis.
- Food safety knowledge.
- Ability to work at a fast pace.
- 6 months of experience in a food preparation / cook position.
- Experience with prep and cooking practices to accommodate food allergies and preferences including vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc.
