Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The Department of Theatre at UNCW seeks an individual to perform as both Lighting Designer and Multimedia Designer for our final 2022 – 2023 Mainstage production, A Murder of Crows by Mac Wellman.

The Lighting Designer coordinates with the director and artistic team to determine what lighting related visuals will craft the desired result on stage. This includes creating mood and focus appropriate to the production needs as well as any special effects desired by the production team.

The Multimedia Designer coordinates with the director and artistic team to determine what animation, still imagery and motion related visuals will craft the desired result on stage. As visuals are identified, the Multimedia Designer will create content required to achieve the production needs.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
· The ability to work with the creative team to develop the artistic vision for this production
· The ability to design the lighting required for the performance
· An awareness of health and safety aspects as they pertain to theatrical lighting
· The ability to work within departmental resources regarding budget, available equipment, and staff resources
· The ability to design from a repertory light plot
· The ability to generate a lighting plot, and all requisite paperwork for their design
· The ability to provide a script with notations for where there are any lighting changes
· The ability to attend all work calls and technical rehearsals as designated by the Production Manager
· Possess Technical skills to assist in troubleshooting all system components as required
· The ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
· Possess good communication skills
· Possess excellent color vision
· The ability to program and teach programming of the ETC Ion Light board
· Possess a strong working knowledge of ETC S4 Lusters, VL1100 units, High End Systems Solospot units, and Elation Fuse series moving fixtures
· The ability to program and teach programming of Watchout 6.1 and Barco Projection Toolset Pulse
· Possess a strong working knowledge of Barco F90 series, Barco FLM series and Sony VLL series projectors
· Possess a strong working knowledge of Dataon servers and control systems
· A working knowledge of Adobe Suite products (Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects) or other editing software
