Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the functional lead for the implementation of divisional communication technologies and software applications including CRMs, Zendesk, parent/family engagement platforms, Constant Contact, Blackboard Connect, etc.; manage these applications post implementation.
  • Develop procedures for effective ways to work with offices and departments within the EMSA division, and key campus partners, to guide creation of high-quality, targeted, cost-effective, and on-brand communications to meet division objectives for enrollment and retention.
  • Collaborate with URM and external vendor (currently EAB ) on planning and execution of recruitment-marketing strategies.
  • Write, edit, and proofread content for internal and external print and online publications (i.e., emails, text messages, digital media, posters, social media, banners, videos, animations, special events, web copy, etc.) ensuring alignment with university brand messaging.
  • Establish performance goals and measures to evaluate the success of communication initiatives (e.g., surveys, focus groups, application-based metrics, etc.) and continually identify new opportunities to get key division messages to niche audiences.
  • Ensure that all written and visual communication from Enrollment Management offices to prospective and current students aligns with the Bowie State University brand standards established by URM .
  • Manage workflow, priorities, and multiple projects at once.
  • Supervise the Communication Specialist(s).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education

A Bachelor’s degree is required.

Experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in writing, editing, and content creation.
  • Experience with strategic communications within higher education, business, or non-profit sector.
  • Supervisory experience.

  • Report to campus and other division and university events as needed (some evenings and weekends may be required)
