Job Description

Under general supervision with broad exercise of independent judgment and discretion, perform a wide range of duties to effectuate moves and relocations for various department across campus with maximum efficiency and an emphasis on superior customer service. Coordinate and triage requests from various departments, to ensure best utilization of resources to meet client needs. Comply with university and departmental policies and established procedures when conducting moves and operating University vehicles.

Qualifications

With wide latitude for independent judgment, make independent decisions regarding the scope of a project, when a request for move is changed on-site. Work with the supervisor to determine the cost of the work order for changed requisitions. Exercise independent judgment to prioritize departmental needs. Interact with all levels of University staff regarding all aspects of delivery and/or relocation of equipment and furniture Deans, Associated Vice Presidents, Directors, Chancellor’s office, etc. Frequently responsible for handling highly sensitive, confidential matters independently, requiring exercise of discretion, and high levels of tact and professional maturity. Such responsibility will also include, at times access and exposure to documents and material of the highest sensitivity that must be handled with greatest discretion and confidentiality at all times. Offer input and help plan scheduled moves to achieve maximum efficiency. Schedule, deliver and pick up materials, equipment, supplies, tools, etc. Maintain records of purchase, pick-ups, deliveries, etc. Which includes keeping track of work orders for billable services. Observe safety regulations and maintain highest standards of sanitation, which may include preparing and supporting recommendations for disposal and/or sale of excess furniture and various excess stock. Load and unload trucks. Break down and reassemble furniture and equipment related to moves; arrange and set up furniture as requested. Keep trucks clean, report malfunctions. Maintain work areas and all vehicles in safe, sanitary and efficient operating conditions. Work at the counter, in the warehouse, on the receiving dock and in making deliveries/pickups. Service customers; retrieve items to fill orders, and dispatch drivers to local suppliers. Will assist in departmental operations when not doing moves, i.e. shovel snow, plow snow, clean, sweep and act as a helper in assisting other classifications such as skilled trades. Communicate with supervisor daily with any changes or issues with scheduled moves. Perform periodic inventory of stock. Prepare e-waste for proper recycling such as computers, monitors, toner cartridges, televisions, etc.

Physical Requirements

Standing, bending, stooping, walking, daily lifting of items that weigh up to 100 pounds.

Tools/Equipment

Screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pallet jack, hand cart and cordless drill. Operate a lift truck, handcart, and other materials handling equipment; drive large and small trucks for deliveries; utilize computer for data entry, maintaining records, drafting and responding to communications, etc.
