Position Details:

This full-time faculty position is on-campus and in-person.

Position Description

• Teaching undergraduate courses in Graphic Design, including introductory technology classes.
• Provide Administrative oversight of the Department’s introductory-level technology classes, establishing and maintaining curriculum for all sections.
• Participate in departmental activities, including serving on committees.
• Advising undergraduate majors.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelors in Graphic Design or a closely-related field.
• Minimum of one year full-time unsupervised, college-level teaching experience.
• Five years professional design experience exclusive of teaching (could be concurrent with teaching).
• Thorough working knowledge of Macintosh computers in graphic design and interactive media applications, especially Adobe Creative Suite.

Strongly Preferred:

• MFA in Graphic Design or a closely-related professional field.
• Three years unsupervised, college-level graphic design teaching experience.
• Photography/Videography experience.

Rank and Salary

Instructor, non tenure-track. This is a permanent position with a renewable contract. The contract period is initially one year, can be extended to three years following the first year of service. Salary and benefits are highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits for domestic partners are available.

Department of Design

The widely-recognized and respected Department of Graphic Design offers the BFA and BS degrees. BFA graduates have a job placement rate of 95+%. Alumni are employed at major advertising agencies, design firms and corporate design offices throughout the US, Europe, Central and South America, and Asia. There are approximately 120 undergraduate graphic design majors in the program. Upon filling this position, the program will have seven, permanent faculty positions with generous adjunct support from the vibrant Fort Worth/Dallas design and advertising community. Faculty are all recognized design practitioners as well as educators.

The Department of Graphic Design is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).

School/College Description:

The TCU College of Fine Arts is home to six units: the School of Art, the School for Classical & Contemporary Dance, the School of Music, the Department of Design, the Department of Fashion Merchandising, and the Department of Theatre. The college offers 33 undergraduate degree programs and 24 advanced degree programs to help prepare the next generation of creative leaders in the arts. Approximately 850 undergraduate students and 120 graduate and professional program students pursue their passions in the TCU College of Fine Arts. These talented students study under renowned professors and guest artists, annually present more than 350 public performances and presentations, and display art and design work in juried exhibitions and competitions, among other creative activities. The college also offers a certificate in Arts Leadership & Entrepreneurship and oversees two on-campus art galleries.
