Job Description
The Boerigter Center for Calling and Career seeks a full-time staff person to lead Hope’s efforts to create new relationships and strengthen existing relationships with employers nationally to strengthen the experiences for our students including internships, job shadowing and post-graduate employment.
Major responsibilities in support of the goals for the Boerigter Center for Calling and Career include, but are not limited to, the items listed below.
- Provide leadership and coordination for many aspects of employer engagement by communicating the value of recruiting Hope students for employment experiences and facilitating on-campus interactions of employers with students.
- Develop ongoing relationships with employers in targeted employment sectors (particularly non-profits) and partner with other employer relations colleagues representing other disciplines (Business, Engineering, etc).
- Foster relationships with employers that value diversity and coordinate events on campus to connect with students.
- Identify and engage specific target organizations in curricular experiential learning, co-curricular programing and department special events (ensuring appropriate communication with external campus colleagues).
- Facilitate event planning and organization of various department events, such as fairs, panels, and receptions that may involve students, faculty and / or prospective employers.
- Foster relationships with alumni and parents of the college and generate and/or pilot innovative ways for engaging these individuals.
- Work with Boerigter Center and Alumni and Family Engagement staff to gather and report on analytics that inform the Center’s programming and employer relations’ strategy.
- Organize, facilitate, attend, provide hospitality support and represent the BCCC at various events and programming activities on and off-campus.
- Serve as a key point of contact for employer calls to the Boerigter Center and oversee employer use of Handshake and alumni connections software.
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of work experience
- Career Development, Alumni Engagement, Development or Employer Relations experience in higher education or other experience relevant to role (e.g., strategic business development, recruiting, human resources, etc.)
- Excellent communication and public relations skills & experience
- Ability to partner internally and externally with a variety of constituents at various levels of seniority
- Organization and management skills – able to strategically and tactically plan, coordinate, and execute detailed multiple projects alone and in collaboration with others
- Career management software such as Handshake
- Attendance at events and programs outside of normal working hours may be required. Occasional evening and weekend hours and some travel will be necessary.
This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a computers, printers, copy machines; Occasionally involves moving items over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities.
