COMMUNICATIONS AND EVENTS COORDINATOR

Salary:

Minimum $44,300 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The starting salary for the position is $44,300 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Job Summary:

The Communications and Events Coordinator is a new position intended to support expansion of the UW Clinical Research Office's (CRO) communications and outreach efforts on the UW campus, to external research sponsors and in diverse community settings.

The incumbent will be responsible for identifying and coordinating participation in one-off and regularly occurring programs and events that align with the CRO communication strategy. This includes ensuring that CRO visibility is consistent with overall messaging, values, mission and strategic goals of our office. The Coordinator will also contribute to the development of communication messaging and marketing materials (print, digital, video, etc.) to various audiences, as well as track the effectiveness of these, as needed.

This position will join a CRO team that collaborates with multiple partner organization representatives to grow and sustain effective relationships and mutually beneficial clinical research goals. The Communications and Events Coordinator is a member of the CRO Communications Team and will report directly to the Clinical Trials Communications Associate Director.

Responsibilities:

Contributes to the development of public relations strategy, executes public relations campaigns, and coordinates events in support of the institution's strategic communication goals.
  • 30% Schedules logistics and secures resources for community outreach efforts and campaigns
  • 35% Develops, plans, and executes small events or portions of larger events, under general supervision, to advance public relation strategies and initiatives to increase the institutional engagement with a wide range of external stakeholders
  • 10% Assists with and advises on web-based marketing and creation of public signage and publications
  • 10% Monitors news, press mentions, and media coverage and maintains social media presence as needed
  • 10% Develops and edits content for various communication projects and marketing platforms to align with strategic initiatives and established communication campaigns
  • 5% Assists with and advises on standard internal documentation and publications

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree
Degree focus in communications, journalism, marketing, consumer science or health sciences-related field preferred.

Qualifications:

Required:
- 1+ years of experience in an events management or development, communications, and/or marketing position.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and teams
- Demonstrated interest in and ability to translate complex scientific concepts for delivery to the general public.

Preferred:
- Experience contributing in an academic health center setting or other complex organization.
- Experience or familiarity with WordPress (website content management system) and social media management.
- Success working to reach goals with a wide variety of individuals from socially and educationally diverse backgrounds and health beliefs.
- Bilingual or biliterate in Spanish.

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
