Supervises and trains the nursing staff at the University Health Center. Oversees the proper maintenance and use of medical supplies and equipment within the Health Center.

  1. Performs traditional duties of a registered nurse in accordance with Health Center policy and procedure and all applicable laws.​
  2. Establishes nurses’ schedules, assigns nursing duties, and provides guidance and instructions on policies, practices and procedures.​
  3. Recruits, interviews and provides orientation to new nurses.​
  4. Trains and guides nursing staff in continuous quality improvement, emergency situations, and execution of provider orders.​
  5. Orders and inventories medical supplies. Facilitates repair of medical instruments.​
  6. Oversees record-keeping and administration of immunizations.​
  7. Collaborates with the Executive Director, Medical Director, and Health Center leadership team to develop and implement Health Center policies and procedures.​
  8. Collaborates with the Health Center leadership team to investigate and resolve grievances and complaints from patients and staff.​
  9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.​

Qualifications :

Bachelors and 3 years experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience. Requires professional licensing, certification or registration directly related to the job, as specified on a job description addendum.

Additional Job Posting Information:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree and a minimum of 3 to 4 years of leadership in a managerial or supervisory role within a healthcare setting.
  • Valid Texas nursing license and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Certificates and copies of all degrees should be available upon request.
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree or a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) degree preferred. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs). College health experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients.
