Supervises and trains the nursing staff at the University Health Center. Oversees the proper maintenance and use of medical supplies and equipment within the Health Center.
- Performs traditional duties of a registered nurse in accordance with Health Center policy and procedure and all applicable laws.
- Establishes nurses’ schedules, assigns nursing duties, and provides guidance and instructions on policies, practices and procedures.
- Recruits, interviews and provides orientation to new nurses.
- Trains and guides nursing staff in continuous quality improvement, emergency situations, and execution of provider orders.
- Orders and inventories medical supplies. Facilitates repair of medical instruments.
- Oversees record-keeping and administration of immunizations.
- Collaborates with the Executive Director, Medical Director, and Health Center leadership team to develop and implement Health Center policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with the Health Center leadership team to investigate and resolve grievances and complaints from patients and staff.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :
Bachelors and 3 years experience
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience. Requires professional licensing, certification or registration directly related to the job, as specified on a job description addendum.
Additional Job Posting Information:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree and a minimum of 3 to 4 years of leadership in a managerial or supervisory role within a healthcare setting.
- Valid Texas nursing license and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Certificates and copies of all degrees should be available upon request.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree or a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) degree preferred. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs). College health experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients.
