Summary of Job Duties:Under the supervision of the of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean of Students with a dotted line to the Director of Admissions, the International Student Services and Programs Administrator will be responsible for:

• Serving as an advisor and providing services to international students and
fellows
• Supervising and evaluating the departmental staff members and student
assistants
• Managing the department budget and scholarship funds.
• Coordinating F-1 and J-1 visas
• Recruiting international students by visiting local and regional high schools,
recruitment fairs, and utilizing agents to recruit students from outside of the
US.
• Developing goals and objectives for the International Program
• Collaborating with Academic Affairs to offer study abroad opportunities for
UAFS students
• Overseeing the progress of UAFS students who are studying abroad
• Providing the appropriate training for faculty, staff, and students who are
preparing to travel and study abroad
• Establishing partnerships with academic institutions, both foreign and
domestic, to increase the international population on campus
• Maintain a positive working relationship with our partner institutions and third-
party vendors.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • One year of previous higher education work experience or related international experience
  • Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or related field.
  • Advanced understanding of global communities and education
  • Prior experience as a PDSO and RSO
  • Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. immigration laws as they apply to international students and fellows
  • Fluency in a language in addition to English
  • Experience with admissions, program development and support services

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and vision to the International Student Services Office.
  • Serve as Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and to the Department of Homeland Security (USCIS) for the F-1 Student Visa Program and be the Responsible Officer (RO) to the U.S. State Department for the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program including:
    • Oversight of the issuance, review and processing of immigration documents and U.S. State Department documents for international students and visitors in F and J status at UAFS
    • Maintenance of the University I-17 and re-certify program every two years
    • Serving as the primary contact for the Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Student and Exchange Visitors Program
  • Maintain and update SEVIS records to ensure federal compliance for both the university and student population
  • Oversee the execution of new student orientation sessions specifically for international students
  • Plan, execute, and support cultural programs and activities
  • Work collaboratively with Academic Affairs to provide an outstanding study abroad experience that includes appropriate training and follow-up.
  • Advise international students on an as-needed basis about student services and support matters; serve as an advocate; and assist/advise students on immigration, financial, and academic issues. This position will serve all international students including those additional non-immigrant visas.
  • Oversee and maintain all the office web pages and other communications
  • Work collaboratively with the Office of Admissions to recruit international students from local high schools and community colleges
  • Perform periodic review of programs and activities, assessing strengths and weaknesses, develop goals and plans to grow and improve program
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Director will be responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork and provide leadership to subordinates
  • A flexible work schedule is required and will include some evening and weekend work,
  • Requires consistent on-time attendance.
