About the Women’s and Gender Studies Program

The Women’s and Gender Studies Program at Drexel University is generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach courses pending openings. These include (but are not limited to) such courses as: Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies, Introduction to Feminisms, Women & Human Rights Worldwide, Women’s Health and Human Rights, Gender and Black Popular Culture, Queer Theory, and Women and Society in a Global Context. Job Summary

The adjunct faculty member will bring their academic and professional expertise in the subject matter to the classroom and will employ a variety of strategies to foster student learning and discussions, as well as encourage active learning in all students, maintain proper course-related records, and evaluate student work and provide students with feedback as to the progress toward meeting the objectives of the course.

Essential Functions
  • Teach required number of credit hours per term based on the contract.
  • Provide a complete syllabus, determine relevant teaching resources ahead of the start of the course, and maintain a course Blackboard Learn site.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills related to teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and evaluation.
  • Evaluate student achievement of curricular objectives/outcomes.
  • Hold regular office hours per week for student availability.
  • Maintain communication with the program director regarding any course or student issues.
Required Qualifications
  • One year of teaching experience at the college level. Graduate students who have advanced to candidacy (ABD) as well as applicants who have advanced to candidacy (ABD) in their doctoral studies or have completed a terminal degree (e.g. M.A., Ph.D., J.D., MPH) in a related field.
  • A commitment to teaching excellence
  • Scholarly or professional expertise on topics related to the field of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies (with additional foci such as, but not limited to, Latinx Studies, Africana Studies, Disability Studies, Legal Studies, Social Justice, Public Health, and Medicine).
