Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist students (undergraduate and graduate) and alumni in developing career goals through career exploration and assessment, career tools and leveraging of resources using various career and educational programs and resources, and career plans with consideration of their values, interests, and skills
  • Provide assistance to students and alumni, both online and face-to-face, including administering and interpreting career assessment instruments, job/internship searches, graduate and professional school assistance, resume writing and interview skills assistance
  • Analyze internship and job market trends in order to collaborate with colleagues to develop and facilitate career workshops/programs (in-person and virtual) utilizing industry trends and student feedback. Incorporates career competencies into resources and career workshops/programs
  • Collect, compile, and analyze data. Produce reports for Career Center Director and staff, Deans of Colleges and university administrators
  • Assist the Director, Assistant Director and Employer Services Manager as needed to respond to routine requests for information and support on special projects
  • Support and participate in all Career Center programming and contribute to development, coordination and facilitation of workshops and outreach programs (in-person and virtual)
  • Assist with researching, writing and updating office informational and instructional handouts for students based on industry trends
  • Support the career planning needs of students by assisting with reviewing resumes and other application documents as well as discussing internship and career options
  • Provide general administration as needed, including developing event promotion materials, producing newsletters, perform data entry functions in Handshake, assist with updating web pages
Minimum Qualifications

Education
  • Master’s degree required with preference in Career Counseling, Counseling/Student Personnel, Higher Education, School Counseling, or a related field
Experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience providing career counseling/advising to students and/or clients
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in a college/university setting preferred or office environment
  • Demonstrated experience in using career assessment and job search tools with students and/or clients
  • Ability to integrate academic and career development components when assisting students in developing career plans
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of web based career and job search resources such as Handshake, LinkedIn, Occupational Outlook Handbook and O*NET
  • Familiarity with various statistical measurements and data analysis software
  • Knowledge and understanding of computer systems and software packages including Microsoft 365, MS Word, MS Publisher, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel MS Access, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to give effective presentations
  • Ability to handle confidential information and documents
  • Must possess excellent organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be attentive to details and deadlines, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse body of students, alumni, faculty, staff and employers
  • Ability to work independently; self-directed
Conditions of Employment

Office environment, some physical lifting, bending, pulling and standing on step-stools will be required
