Title: Associate Tutor
Employee Classification: Part Time Classified/A/P
Department Academic Success & Tutoring
Position Summary:
Empowers students to reach academic goals by helping them conceptualize or clarify course content and teaching them effective study skills. Session interactions may be one-on-one or small groups and may be conducted on-campus, online, or both. Provides mentoring and supervision to peer tutors.
Primary Duties Performed:
• Provides transformative impact on students by empowering them to understand content material, use effective learning strategies, and learn in a collaborative environment.
• Serves as a mentor and/or supervisor to peer tutors. Conducts observations and delivers feedback to peer tutors
• Assists with training activities, workshops, and events.
• Removes barriers to learning by providing equitable treatment and practicing inclusivity of all students.
• May assist students with the use of institutional and instructional technology.
• Completes administrative documentation accurately and on time.
• Maintains confidentiality of students’ personal and academic issues and records as per FERPA and college guidelines.
• Promotes self and AST services to relevant faculty and students by making classroom visits and/or establishing online connection and communication.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• An Associate’s degree and at least a 3.0 GPA in their tutoring subject or related area.
• At least one year tutoring experience.
• Ability to work flexible hours and evenings as needed. Hours may vary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Community college experience as tutor or peer-assisted learning facilitator. STLCC graduates preferred.
Salary Range:
$17.50 Per Hour
