Position Summary:

The Department of Criminal Justice & Social Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for Lecturer in Sociology with expertise in Race & Ethnicity. This is a full-time, nine-month, benefit eligible position with anticipated August 2023 start date. Salary for this position is $36,000. 

 

Applicants should feel comfortable teaching some combination of departmental courses such as Intro to Sociology, Sociology of Race & Ethnicity, Social Inequalities, Intro to Ethnic Studies, and Ethnicity, Race, & Crime.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated competency teaching multiple existing sociology and race/ethnicity courses. The typical teaching load is 5 courses per semester (5/5).

  • Masters’ degree in Sociology or related discipline
  • Strong commitment to undergraduate education in a liberal arts environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Department Information:

The Department of Criminal Justice & Social Sciences in the College of Liberal Arts and Education has 8 full-time tenure-track positions and regularly employs an additional 8-12 instructional academic staff. The undergraduate program offers a BA/BS in Criminal Justice, BS in Forensic Investigation, and a BA/BS in Political Science. The department also oversees multiple minors and certificates, including the Sociology, Criminology, and Ethnic Studies.
