Job Summary:

The ITA Academic Support Instructor position works with students and groups who represent a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences, with a focus on students from historically underrepresented and low-income backgrounds. They will have primary duties that support the overall ITA program through planning and support benefitting students in Lac du Flambeau, Oneida, and Madison. The Academic Instructor will teach students in the ITA Lac du Flambeau and ITA Oneida sites through a blended learning approach. Weekend work is required as is occasional evening work. ITA weekend cohort (Saturday & Sunday) sessions are held on-site in both Lac du Flambeau and Oneida.

These cohort weekends take place in September, November, and February. The cohort weekends are complemented by a comprehensive online distance-learning curriculum throughout the school year. The ITA Academic Instructor will also work at the ITA Spring Conference on the UW-Madison campus. ITA summer program work requirements include a 2-week summer camp on-site at Oneida in June and a 2-week summer camp on-site at Lac du Flambeau in July. The team member will work with other staff members to pack, load, and unload equipment needed for weekend cohort sessions and summer camps.

Responsibilities:

Delivers and assists with planning pre-college program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote a stable and productive relationship between the university and community. May assist with tracking and managing a pre-college program budget.
  • 15% Schedules, secures, and communicates logistics and resources in support of a pre-college program
  • 20% Delivers pre-college program content and materials to community members
  • 15% Researches, develops, and facilitates pre-college program content and materials
  • 20% Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
  • 10% Provides support in identifying appropriate fields of study, career options, or programs and refers students to appropriate resources
  • 5% Serves as the liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups to identify and maintain academic program-related partnerships
  • 5% Provides full service advising resources and services, provides information about educational options and academic requirements, and communicates directly with students regarding all aspects of the advising process
  • 5% Maintains confidentiality and accurate student records and processes
  • 5% Evaluates, designs, and implements operations to align with the strategic direction

Education:

Required
Bachelor's Degree in education, counseling, or a related field

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications include:

- Prior professional or community experience or a desire to work within American Indian communities.
- Knowledge of teaching and assessment in a classroom setting, in-person and online.
- Knowledge developing and evaluating curriculum and related programming for youth.
-Working knowledge and skills with a variety of technology tools, including Google cloud, Microsoft, and other web-based productivity tools, such as online calendaring, learning management systems (Canvas), email and other applications.
- Ability to lead, organize, and implement organizational events and other complex tasks on deadline.

In addition to the required qualifications above, the most qualified candidates may also have the following preferred qualification:
- Successful work or community experience with K-12 high school or middle school students, especially students of color and low-income students.

License/Certification:

Required
Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards in order to operate a university vehicle

Hybrid: The candidate selected for this position may perform a combination of on-site and remote work subject to an approved remote work agreement (RWA) agreement. Remote work requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer.

This position requires a flexible schedule with job responsibilities taking place outside the standard work week. There are a number of weekend and evening hours needed to accommodate cohorts during the school year and support onsite summer camps in both the Lac du Flambeau and Oneida communities.
