Pay Range: $43.01/hour and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: Johnson County Community College is seeking an adjunct nursing faculty to teach in the Zamierowski Family Center for Healthcare Simulation (ZFCHS). The ZFCHS adjunct nursing faculty is a clinically experienced subject matter expert who is responsible for facilitating student learning and performance in the on-site simulation center. The ZFCHS provides an immersive simulation learning experience for Associate Degree Nursing students.

The adjunct nursing faculty will be responsible for working with faculty, students, staff, and external stakeholders to ensure that the highest quality simulation learning activities are efficiently integrated and implemented across the nursing curriculum. This position involves the use of interactive and simulated technology, with evidence-based simulation models, to implement and evaluate simulation scenarios as an educational modality.

Adjunct nursing faculty will provide clinical, educational, and technical expertise in simulation-based activities in the HSC. Faculty will work as part of the ZFCHS team to provide current best practice for patient scenarios during a Simulation Clinical Day which complements the nursing curriculum. Faculty will be actively involved with scenario implementation and debriefing for learners. Student learning activities will include resolving simple-to-complex patient care situations via high-fidelity simulation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university (or within one year of completion with a degree plan)
  • An active Kansas RN license or Compact license
  • A minimum of three years full-time or equivalent nursing experience within the last five years
  • Ability to multitask; process multiple sources of information quickly
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to understand and utilize advanced technical simulation equipment, and communicate that knowledge to others as appropriate
  • Ability to create and maintain a respectful and professional working environment, incorporating active learning, reflective thinking, and a confidential debriefing process
  • Visionary approach to simulation education in clinical and academic settings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current ACLS certification or instructor experience
  • One to three years relevant teaching experience in simulation or education
  • Background/expertise in instructional and pedagogical concepts and methods in health care skills and simulation modality
  • Knowledge of Gaumard Patient Simulator software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience using electronic healthcare records
  • Current Critical Care experience
  • Simulation education experience
