We’re currently searching for an Engagement Coordinator to join the VT Engage: The Center for Leadership and Service Learning team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. Here’s what you need to know about the role:

• You’ll be joining the VT Engage team; a center focused on leadership, service learning, civic engagement, and food access to equip civic leaders to create a more just world.
• You’ll be reporting to an Assistant Director, in a Regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment. 
• You’ll be responsible for supporting alternative break trips and student leaders, creating new programming to promote engagement with the Virginia Tech and surrounding community, collaboratively working with faculty and staff to support service learning efforts at Virginia Tech, manage student and site logistics for the Virginia Tech Campus Kitchen program, and share the good work of VT Engage with the community.
• You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
• You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $40,000-$45,000 along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, social work or public affairs and a demonstrated commitment to public and/or community service
• Experience working with volunteer management and coordination of events
• Experience facilitating group discussions and using written and oral reflection to promote learning
• Demonstrated experience fostering diverse and inclusive environments and establishing positive, productive working relationships with diverse groups of constituents
• Significant evening and weekend work required

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in student personnel, higher education, public administration, leadership education, or a related field
• Knowledge of the New River Valley’s nonprofit and social service sectors.
• Experience developing partnerships with student affairs areas and community-based organizations.
• Knowledge of assessment of student learning and/or community impact.  
• Demonstrated capacity and skill with organizing a wide range of varied tasks efficiently and effectively
