Lecturer in Sports Media

 

 

 

The Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts at Coastal Carolina University, located in Conway, South Carolina, invites applications for the full-time position of Lecturer in Sports Media to begin in August 2023.

 


A graduate or terminal degree in Communication, Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Arts, or a related field by the date of appointment is required. This position will teach five courses per semester in broadcast sports media, as well as communication, journalism, and/or public relations courses according to the candidate's areas of expertise and experience. Experience teaching courses across areas that fit within the Department's undergraduate programs, including knowledge/theory- and practice-based courses, is required. Sought-after areas of focus include but are not limited to sports video production; broadcast sports journalism and analysis; media writing; sports play-by-play; social and traditional media practices and ethics. Applicants with professional experience as a working broadcast sports journalist or sports media professional and experience working with student media are especially encouraged to apply.

 

 

 

The Department of Communication, Media and Culture is one of Coastal Carolina University’s largest departments, serving approximately 450 students in undergraduate majors; 100 students in communication, journalism, and health communication minors; and 25 graduate students in its Master of Arts program. Students contribute to student-run media (WCCU Radio, a digital video production studio, Teal Nation Communications student-run public relations firm, The Chanticleer newspaper, and a social media student organization) and to media in the University’s Athletics programs and local community.
